FROM LAMENTATION TO ACTIVE HOPE

During these turbulent times it is easy to feel completely overwhelmed and full of despair. On 9th February we dedicated an afternoon to opening our hearts and moving from despair to hope through music, creative ritual sharing, poetry and storytelling.  Focusing on gratitude, lamentation and the creative imagination, we worked on moving from a state of passive despair into what Joanna Macy calls 'Active hope' where we can be moved to act in the areas where we can already make a difference to the world, our communities and the people in our lives. .

The event was co-led by Heather-Jane Ozanne a member of our congregation and CEO and founder of Spirit of Peace  and our lay pastor Eleanor Chiari.

We were lucky to have performances by Kurdish singer Nawroz Oremari as well as the harpist, singer and activist Vicki Burke, Israeli storyteller and peacemaker Hannah Jaffe, and art therapist and activist Catriona Alderton.

Thank you to all who attended!
